The National Defence Academy (NDA) Exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of NDA & Indian Naval Academy (INA).

The Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview is a five-day selection process conducted for candidates who qualify for the NDA written exam. It is designed to assess a candidate’s intelligence, personality, leadership, and officer-like qualities (OLQs).
The SSB Interview is conducted in two stages:
📌 Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test
📌 Day 2: Psychological Tests
✅ Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) – Write stories on 12 pictures shown for 30 sec each.
✅ Word Association Test (WAT) – 60 words shown, candidates write sentences in 15 sec per word.
✅ Situation Reaction Test (SRT) – 60 real-life situations given, responses must be written quickly.
✅ Self-Description Test (SDT) – Write about strengths, weaknesses, and others’ opinions about yourself.
📌 Day 3 & 4: Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks
✅ Group Discussion (GD) – Discussion on current affairs and abstract topics.
✅ Group Planning Exercise (GPE) – Candidates solve a given military/logistical problem as a team.
✅ Progressive Group Tasks (PGT) – Solving obstacle-based tasks in teams.
✅ Half Group Tasks (HGT) – Similar to PGT but in smaller groups.
✅ Command Task – Each candidate acts as a commander and leads a team to solve an obstacle.
✅ Individual Obstacles – Completing a series of physical challenges like rope climbing, jumping, etc.
✅ Lecturette – A short speech on a given topic within 3 minutes.
✅ Final Group Task (FGT) – Last team-based task, testing coordination and leadership.
