About CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces)
- CAPF refers to India’s paramilitary forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), responsible for internal security, border security, and law enforcement.
- Objective: To assist in maintaining internal security, counter-terrorism, border protection, and disaster response.
- Recruitment: Conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for Assistant Commandants (AC) and SSC (Staff Selection Commission) for Sub-Inspectors & Constables.

Wings of CAPF & Their Functions
BSF (Border Security Force)
- Guards India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)
- Largest CAPF unit, primarily responsible for maintaining law and order.

ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police)
- Guards India’s border with China (LAC – Line of Actual Control).
- Conducts high-altitude security operations and disaster relief.

SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal)
- Protects India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan.
- Conducts anti-smuggling and anti-infiltration operations.

- Selection through UPSC CAPF Exam, which consists of:
- Written Exam: Two papers testing general ability, intelligence, and essay writing.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Includes running, long jump, shot put, etc.

- Personal Interview & Personality Test: Conducted by UPSC to assess leadership qualities and decision-making skills.
